Amendment 19

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Finally after 50 years women could vote. Even though they are 51% of the population, they are treated as the minority. Susan B. Anthony believed "men and women were equal in the eyes of God." Why did it take so long for women to have the ability to vote? I believe that women are still unequal today. There have been efforts to fix this, such as affirmative action, but there is only so much that the government can do. Women need to speak out and be heard for themselves.

This is an old stamp used when the 19th amendment was ratified.

Women's suffrage was an important part of history.
